Professor Marcy Zenobi-Wong, currently Associate Professor at ETH Zurich, has been promoted to Full Professor of Tissue Engineering and Biofabrication at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology (D-HEST).

ERC Starter Grant / Marie Curie Career Integration Grant
Awards
It is with great pleasure that I can announce that Sandra Hofmann, who is currently a Group Leader at the Institute for Biomechanics and an Assistant Professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology, has been awarded an ERC Starter Grant and almost at the same time a Marie Curie Career Integration Grant for her work on "Real-time monitoring of load induced remodeling in tissue-engineered bone". These awards come with a total research support of 1.6 million Euro.

We are pleased to announce that together with our collaborators at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, University of Iceland and the Icelandic Heart Association we have won a competition with our Ph.D. project proposal entitled: „What Predisposes a Hip to Fracture - A Retrospective FE Hip Fracture Study Based on the AGES-RS Data“.

We are pleased to announce that starting in the Spring Semester 2012, the Institute for Biomechanics is now offering a Colloquium in Biomechanics.
Change from D-MAVT to D-HEST
In April 2010, the ETH Zurich Executive Board decided to unite professors from the areas of Food and Nutrition, Medical Engineering, Neurosciences as well as Movement Sciences and Sports into a new Department of Health Sciences and Technology (D-HEST).
Poster Prize 2011

We are pleased to announce that the Team Daniel Baumgartner, Georg Osterhoff, Clément M.L.Werner, Hans Gerber and Philippe Favre won the third Poster Prize from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Biomechanik (DGfB) in Murnau (19.-21.Mai 2011). The award comes with a check of 250 Euro.

Promotion
As a former fellow of the Institute for Biomechanics, we have the pleasure to announce that Dr. Marco Stampanoni, currently Head of the X-Ray Tomography Group at the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) in Villigen, has been elected as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of X-Ray Microscopy. We wish him all the best in his new function at the Institute for Biomedical Engineering.

Visiting Professor
Prof. Itai Bab is spending three months at the Institute as part of his sabbatical leave from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
3rd General AO-Meeting “Fracture Fixation in Osteoporotic Bone”
The third general meeting of the AO Clinical Priority Program: Fracture Fixation in Osteoporotic Bone (CPP FFOB) will be held in Zurich from March 28 to March 29, 2008.
ESB 2009 Workshop
The Council of the European Society of Biomechanics selected the Institute for Biomechanics to host the ESB 2009 Workshop in June of 2009.
