In 1961, the first ETH „Biomechanics” publication appeared authored by the Director of Sport and Sport Instruction at the time, Prof. Dr. Jürg Wartenweiler. The manuscript was entitled “Investigating the mechanics of human movement“. This milestone signified the beginning of Biomechanics at ETH Zürich, and its development over the past 50 years has culminated in the present Institute for Biomechanics.
In order to celebrate this anniversary with us, we would like to invite you to a scientific Mini-Symposium to be held on Friday, the 17th of June 2011. As you can see from the enclosed program we are delighted to welcome a number of renowned international speakers for this occasion.
Furthermore, former and current Institute employees are warmly invited to our Alumni Day, which will be held on Saturday, the 18th of June 2011.
We hope that you will be able to join us and look forward to your registration before 22 May 2011.
Prof. Dr. Ralph Müller
Director, Institute for Biomechanics
